The social etiquette or behavior of a region or city, in this case that of Orihuela influences the customs of its inhabitants, through a series of rules that might help you to feel more comfortable during your stay in the town.
Social etiquette in Orihuela and those unwritten rules of social behaviour have shaped and molded, although now less so, the customs and traditions that you will find in the social environment of Orihuela and within those groups of friends and workers in the town.
Through various activities the inhabitants of Orihuela, together with relevant groups and organisations, regularly conduct meetings and get-togethers in order to solve the various problems that usually presented themselves both in the region of the Vega Baja, and in the municipality, and in each of the different districts.
For example, each district has its own village mayor to whom the inhabitants of that district should make known their concerns and problems that that district may have.
The mayor is a means of communication between citizens of a district and the government and the different departments that constitute the Government of Orihuela.
The Government of Orihuela has a mayor and deputy mayor, as well as councilors from each of the areas in it has legal judiciary which naturally give it power to govern the town of Orihuela.
Within the standards of treatment or the social norms is the use of words such as "Excellency" . In the town of Orihuela, when preparing formal written invitations or flyers by the town hall, this form of addressing the guest is used.
This form of addressing someone is also used when the mayor of the city council directs an invitation or when he / she is the sender, but this form of address is slowly being lost.
An example would be "Excelentísimo Presidente/Alcalde de la Corporación Local del Ayuntamiento de ..." ("His Excellency the President / Mayor of the Local City Council of Orihuela..." in English)
It could be useful to note that the departments of Orihuela currently at your disposal under the current ruling political party are: Education, Culture, Environment, Tourism, Services and Infrastructure, Heritage, Protocol, Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Sports, Festivals, Orihuela Costa, Health, Industrial Development, Urban Planning, Housing and Public Safety.
Each of the councilors are called "Don / D." or "Doña" for females (Sir / Mr. or Madam in English) just like any other citizen of Orihuela.
Regardless of the town government, the social norms of Orihuela incorporate a number of associations and organisations that are peripheral to the city of Orihuela and its districts, such as the Confederation of Employers for Vega Baja, Orihuela Chamber of Commerce, the Segura Basin, and further traders' associations, educational institutions, economic, social, cultural, ecological, religious and political organisations.
Therefore within the customs and traditions) of the municipality of Orihuela, we find nothing inparticularly out of the ordinary, when looked at in comparison with those social norms that govern the nearby city of Valencia and the rest of the country.
